Project Description: The Paintings Conservation Department at the Walters Art Museum is currently undertaking a major project: the conservation and study of a rare and important fourteenth century Spanish altarpiece belonging to the Museum's collection. This has given the conservators and curators in charge a great opportunity to do in-depth technical and art historical research, in the course of which some intriguing discoveries have been made. The purpose of this interactive presentation is to share some of these exciting findings with you. They have been grouped into six different categories: Preparation, Underdrawing, Conservation, Attribution, Iconography, and Function.
