HI SCOTT:
Our Special Collections folks have the following wish list for additions/modifications to Pachyderm functionality and templates. The following items are specific to templates and presentation creation: (I will also add this info to the forum.)

  1. 1. Tool or process to create new template
    formats.

  2. 2. Tool or process to modify the format of
existing templates. They want to be able
to tweak specific parts of the
    templates.

  3. 3. Instructions on how to install 3rd party
templates into the existing group of
templates so that they show up as an option
    when first creating a presentation.

  4. 4. Ability to lock presentation, during
development, by author so only creator can
    make changes to a presentation.

The following items are functionality changes that will help our customers use our presentations more effectively:

  1. 1. The audio and video players could use
Rewind and Fast Forward buttons so
customers can review or skip forward as
    needed.

  2. 2. Ability to click on web page pictures to go
to the next template, in addition to the
zoom button which is already there.

  3. 3. Need a return button on timeline type links
so customer returns to point on timeline
    where they originally clicked. Currently,
they have to click the back button which
takes them back to the beginning of the
timeline links and then have to scroll
forward to what they were viewing. This is
very tedious and time consuming when there
is a time line that is the equivalent of
two, three or more display screens
    long.

  4. 4. Need a button on the web page that takes a
customer directly to a Transcript page when
    Transcript information is available.

Finally, so that I can become familiar with the internal coding of templates, I need access and tools to view their source code so that I can assist in modifications to how templates display.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Hi John-

See my notes below.

  1. 1. Tool or process to create new template
    formats.

  2. SS - We are currently down to one developer and hope to schedule a web-based seminar on this topic.

  3. 2. Tool or process to modify the format of
existing templates. They want to be able
to tweak specific parts of the
    templates.

  4. SS- We will be posting the source code FLA's for all of the 2.1 templates shortly. This will allow Flash developers to change the look and feel, but will require more technical skill if your developers want to add more data.

  5. 3. Instructions on how to install 3rd party
templates into the existing group of
templates so that they show up as an option
    when first creating a presentation.

  6. SS- There are not any 3rd party 2.1 templates to date. Once there are, we will publish this.

  7. 4. Ability to lock presentation, during
development, by author so only creator can
    make changes to a presentation.

  8. SS- I'm unclear on this. Only the author can ever change a presentation unless they give their password away. If you are referring to "Save As" functionality, we are working on that for version 2.1.0.2

The following items are functionality changes that will help our customers use our presentations more effectively:

  1. 1. The audio and video players could use
Rewind and Fast Forward buttons so
customers can review or skip forward as
    needed.

  2. SS- This is not in the current spec. If you have $$ or developers to work on this, lets talk.

  3. 2. Ability to click on web page pictures to go
to the next template, in addition to the
zoom button which is already there.

  4. SS- This is problematic since almost all picture areas can also play video and the current standard for video is that you click on it to play it. We can not do both. Any ideas?
  5. 3. Need a return button on timeline type links
so customer returns to point on timeline
    where they originally clicked. Currently,
they have to click the back button which
takes them back to the beginning of the
timeline links and then have to scroll
forward to what they were viewing. This is
very tedious and time consuming when there
is a time line that is the equivalent of
two, three or more display screens
    long.

  6. SS- Timeline? There is not a timeline in 2.1. Are we talking about 2.0?
  7. 4. Need a button on the web page that takes a
customer directly to a Transcript page when
    Transcript information is available.

  8. SS- This is standard in 2.1 whenever a transcript has been added to the media item's metadata.

Finally, so that I can become familiar with the internal coding of templates, I need access and tools to view their source code so that I can assist in modifications to how templates display.
SS- See my answer to question #1.

All best,
Scott
