This thread will be used to discuss ongoing work towards supporting Accessibility (508) in the published Pachyderm presentations, as well as within the application.
Currently our focus is full 508 compliance plus enhanced usability for those with disabilities in the presentation templates, as well as augmentations made to the authoring application to support the publishing of accessible presentations. The project has been going on for some time now , and our active participants are:
Joshua Archer
Clayton Black
Eric Cheng
Tim Svenonius
Lou Zweier
I would encourage any who are interested to monitor the traffic in this thread, and to jump in and contribute when they are so inspired.
Thanks,
Joshua

Notes from Pachy Dev Call
12/21/07
Present: Clayton Black, Joshua Archer, Tim Sevnonius, Lou Zweier
Clayton:
Has been turning the video and media functionality into actionscript code.
This will improve performance and make template authoring with media components much easier.
He is using actionscript 2.0, Scott asked about using it 3.0. Clayton says this is a MUCH bigger job.
Discussion about Template versioning:
The current templates have no versioning information in them.
Template versioning is a challenge because there are several components that make up a template that can be installed in the authoring system (.swf, template def., XML, etc)
In the furture, we should move towards bundling all these resources together when distributing a template.
All files associated with a template should be bundeled together
Joshua says the template description and XML file have spots for version info.
Lou suggested we have a way to display the template version to the author
Status of the 2.1.0 Accessibility templates
Joshua has been attempting to get a working instance of 2.1.0 alpha and test the templates. Lots of difficulty doing this (Lepoard and eclipse, etc.). He got it working partially and did some tests.
Joshua sent an eamil this morning summarizing his feedback on the template tests.
Joshua will post his test presentations and the files he modified to the net for clayton to access.
Clayton will get to fixes from Josh's notes next week
Will post revised templates on server. Lou will try and give feedback
Bug tracking system - Joshua and Clayton will talk off line about how to use this tool to support the work.
Tim
Hasn't looked at the 2.1.0 template files that clayton sent.
SFMOMA could do a round of QA testing on the new templates when they are ready (3rd week in Jan?)
Tim will begin looking at developing template documentation then.
SFMOMA is using the May 15th Templates on their server, but they haven't fully QA'd them.
Lou
Did a test of the May 15th 2.0 templates in CDL's test instance. Sent the summary results and link to resulting presentation to the group.
Do we need to modify our way of working to include PachyForge?
The group will start using PachyForge for communication by posting our meeting notes there
The goal will be shift our email communication to PachyForge forum postings
We will continue to have phone calls, but will post notes to PachyForge.
Next call, Jan 11th 2008

Are there any notes from the 1/11 conference call? I am tracking the 508 improvements. If you have need of someone to help out in anyway, such as testing, let me know.
